Did you run over the Burmese python? The latest population estimate for this exotic snake in Everglades National Park was 66,000 of them!!!
I caught a 9' python near Coot Bay while in the company of Dan Kimball, the ENP superintendent, Lynn Scarlett, the Deputy Secretary for the Department of Interior, and dignitaries from Florida Audubon Society and South Florida Water Management District. Dan Kimball said to kill it, so I dispatched it with a knife. When we turned it in to Skip Snow, the ENP biologist who studies them, it turned out to be one of his radio-tagged snakes. Oooops!!!
