Today after work we decided to make a quick stop at Barnes to look for migrants. We birded from 6:45 to about 7:10, the trail had a good number of birds which consisted mostly of Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. The trees over the parking area by the nature center had as many as 10 BGGN at one time, we also found two Yellow-throated Warbler in the trees above. We walked towards the boardwalk which heavily smelled of some type of weather protectant. There was torn yellow tape on the floor which had been blocking off the boardwalk area. Maybe one of the new "improvements" in the park. Although we got to say the boardwalk did look nice, we didn't see any birds in that area. We were happy to see our FOTS male American Redstart.
Migrants seen today:
Chimney Swift (3)
Red-eyed Vireo (1)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (15)
Black-and-white Warbler (2)
Yellow-throated Warbler (3)
American Redstart (1)
Nature is Awesome
