During a brief visit this morning to the Chekika area of Everglades National Park, I observed a single White-tailed Kite on SW 168 Street, just west of 213 Avenue. On 237 Avenue, north of the Chekika entrance, a King Rail was strutting in the middle of the road, allowing outstanding looks. Numerous Common Nighthawks were perched on snags along both SW 168 Street and SW 237 Avenue. Two Prairie Warblers were the only migrant songbirds seen in the area.
