Diving through Markham Park early today two Killdeer ran in front of my car. Some years back I used to see many Killdeer in the area, but I have not seen any for a while. I had walked my dog and there was an empty lot next door, a Killdeer had a nest and when the bird saw the dog it would run out into the street and walk along with us, this happened every day until we moved. I miss those birds.
Not many empty lots around any more.
