This information may have already been posted but, just in case it hasn't, wanted to let everyone know about a great Burrowing Owl photo op location! Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek (Northern Broward County).
There are two nests. One is about 30 feet from the park road and had a young owl outside. The other is only about 10 feet, if that, from the road and had two adults. This nest is so close to the edge of the road that you can literally stop your car, roll down the window and take great close up shots! you don't even have to get out! If you only have a little snappy cam, which I did, then the nest with the young owl takes a bit of belly crawling to get within about 15 feet.
Anyhow, here are the directions...
Tradewinds Park (Southside) Sample Road just West of Turnpike...
Enter park and proceed South on main park road...
Turn left down first road which paralells a soccer field...
Stay on that road and turn left at end onto a perimeter road...
First nest will be directly on your right side...
Second nest is just a bit further down on your left...
Both are ringed by yellow caution tape. Have fun!!!!
