This afternoon, I heard familiar buzzing in my oak trees and knew it was the first BG Gnatcatcher of the season in my yard. Lo and behold, there were 6 of them in an oak tree. After checking around the yard, the trees were full of them. There must have been approx 40 of them on the property. God knows there's plenty of food for them, with all the mosquitos and gnats around my place. A bonus bird was a nice male Yellow-throated Warbler mixed in. I also saw some Barn Swallows flying over the wetlands by the Card Sound Road and west of Florida City. Is the fall migration just around the corner?
