You don't really have to wait for fall migration. It has already started. By the time fall really gets here, migration is over. Besides, shorebirds are not likely going to come to anyone's yard, and their migration is rapidly approaching full swing. To really grasp fall migration, I suggest doing some shorebird trips, then hit the local warbler spots heavily in September and October, then sparrows and waterfowl in November and December.

Or you can watch the yard. It's cool.
