Peterson Field Guides Birds of Eastern and Central North America Fifth Edition
"...blue-gray above and whitish below, with a narrow white eye-ring..." Page 242

Given yes the notch tail maybe be mistaken by the black tail with white outer feathers.

We may not be the most experienced birders given we have only been birding a few years but have seen plenty of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers. The description does have many similar field marks to a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. It was just a suggestion to help in identification of the mystery bird.

We really wish you would have put your email so we would not have to waste space on the bird board.
