Okay, so they're not birds (but they fly)!!! I have a population of Northern Yellow Bats roosting in the royal palm trees that line my property. These are large bats and this is the southernmost population of this species currently known in the U.S. If anyone is interested in seeing them, park along the edge of my property on SW 173 Court east of the intersection at SW 296 Street (Avocado Drive) right around dusk. My address is 17360 SW 296 Street, but my gate is on SW 173 Court. Watch for the bats leaving the royal palm canopies. There are lots of chimney swifts around too.
