I was visiting S. Florida last weekend and was birding/photographing at the Green Cay Wetlands and noticed this great blue heron with a problem with its throat. The bird was basically acting like your average great blue heron but it has a laceration of its throat and its tongue is hanging out. I don't know how amenable this situation is to treatment.
It is a very nice facility.
