I showed my son the nest on Monday afternoon, we did not see any eagles anywhere near the nest. Perhaps they have fledged? The nest is a massive nest in an Australian Pine surrounded by houses commercial buildings etc. Just west of 27 there are thousands of acres of Everglades, I don't think that the eagles will have a problem nesting here. They have made such a good comeback, I am sure more will nest in residential areas if suitable trees are present. I think that is the key, "suitable large trees" such as the invasive Australian Pine. These trees are the choice tree in suburban areas for Swallow-tailed Kites. As well as Fish Crows and a few other species.
