Niether of the waterthrushes show a "striking yellow Color" anywhere. The Louisiana Waterthrush will generally have yellowish buff flanks contrasting with pure white breast and eye line. The Northern Waterthrush will generally have uniformly dingy underparts and a dingy eye-line but the eye-line can be nearly white and isn't a reliable field mark. The clinchers for me are the unstreaked white throat of the Louisiana and its much flatter chip note.

There is a strong early movement of Lousiana Waterthrushes but I've seen well marked Northern Waterthrushes in south Florida in mid July so I'm not quick to dismiss early fall sightings of this species.
