I am so happy when people bird Biscayne NP. Come on down, folks, lots of cool birds! And if you haven't tried kayaking from Black Point, you are missing out, my friends. Manatees, crocodiles, stingrays, and birds galore. PLUS if the new bathrooms haven't opened yet, they will soon, and they look quite nice from the outside :-)

Could your mystery fish be a lane snapper? Here is a website to an image with a snapper with big eyes, reddish fins, and longitudinal stripes. By the way fish are notorious for changing in appearance with age... including stripes.
