After the TAS walk on Saturday, April 7, 2001 and a short stop at A.D. Barnes to see the western race of the Warbling Vireo, Bruce Purdy, myself, et al.located 2 Blue Grosbeaks, 6 Indigo Buntings, a female Painted Bunting and 6 Nutmeg Mannikins (a/k/a Spotted Munia) Lonchura punchulata (sp.?) There were 2 adults and 4 immature feeding on Burma Reed along the railroad tracks. Just a hunch but this appears to be a breeding population. They are pictured on the last page of birds depicted in the National Geographic Third Edition. Unfortunately, no Dickcissels. Life is good.....
