I saw 2 Black necked stilts on Sheridan and 197 av this afternoon, in the swale. They were still in the same spot, both birds had not moved twenty minutes later when I passed by again. One was calling.
By Holly Lake, female martins were roosting in an australian pine. Up to 13 or more at a time, some would take off and others alight. One knocked another in the head with its feet. Males would come by and induce a female to take off. Two or three alighted in a black olive, including a male, but a male boat-tailed grackle seemed to take umbrage and chased them off.
