We visited Green Cay, Wakodahatchee & Loxahatchee for the first time today (in a 9 hr marathon) and were very impressed with the number of species and quantity of birds and other wildlife we encountered.
The limpkins and black-bellied whistling ducks, in particular, were new birds for us. We had also never seen so many purple gallinules before and got to see large numbers of their young, up close.
We rounded out the day with a Hill myna near our apartment back in Miami. There are at least 2 or 3 hill mynas here, in case anyone is interested, whose location during the last hour of the day can be predicted with nearly 100% accuracy. They seem to be very habitual birds.
