I just went to one of the free programs at Deering Estate last night which was excellent. It was on venomous snakes/bees/spiders etc., wildlife info. of critters that you might encounter on birdwalks and what to do about such encounters. They actually had all Florida's poisonous snakes crawling on the stage and a fireman from the Antivenom Bank in Miami conducted the program. There are other free programs at the visitors center auditorium throughout the year. The next one is on Bird Conservation, thursday July 3rd from 7p.m. to 8p.m.. Other programs after this one are also related to nature/conservation. I called Deering Estate at Cutler to get the upcoming schedule.
