For those that come to Green Cay you know that we have been undergoing some boardwalk maintenance. This will continue for a couple of more weeks but the whole boardwalk will be open every weekend.
Also, the water level on the South side will be lowered significantly to combat the hydrilla in the coming days. This could be an excellent opportunity to attract shorebirds. I will let you know if anything interesting turns up.
On today's count I had 8 Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, all the typcial waders including a Least Bittern and multiple Black-crowned Night Herons, 8 Black-necked Stilts, and 18 Least Terns. The Killdeer nest hatched successfully in the parking area.
