This is a photo of a bird's nest my wife Emily was given today by a friend who found it blown onto the ground in South Miami.
The nest measures roughly 4x5 inches and is approximately 3 inches high, and the cavity is about 3 inches across and about 1.5 inches deep. The nest is made of pine needles, fluff that looks like down or lint, ciggie butt filters, a label with a Mexican origin, aluminum foil, plastic streamers and a wrapper, dried leaves, paper of indeterminate sort, and twigs--among other things. The cavity has the husks of what look like eaten berries, and there appears to be no sign of fecal matter or eggs.
Can anyone help identify its avian architect/general contractor?
