Jeanette, Troy and I stopped by the Dump Marsh yesterday evening around 6:30PM. Troy easily spotted the Black Tern as it flew near the west end of the marsh and landed on a pole protruding a couple of feet above the water. It stayed there the whole time preening itself, so we had great looks through the binocular and scope. When we first arrived, we spotted 5 Common Nighhawks. They were calling and flying around the fields on both sides of the canal before we walking to the marsh. We did not spot the Gulled-billed Tern or Avocets at Cutler Wetlands.
