No, the old nest that is plotted on the FWC Web site was on the Miccosukee Reservation. This active nest is in a suburban location, only about 18 miles inland. The owner could turn the eagle nest site into grazing land until real estate prices go up. A couple of bulldozers could level that entire 440 yard wide swath of Melaleuca and Australian Pine in the blink of on eye. I know they are busy and understaffed, but so far, the FWC has NOT answered my friend's earlier request for them to register the nest in their system, hence my repeated request for them to respond. They should place credence on citizen reports.
