Had the distinct pleasure of going on a pelagic trip sponsored by the Marine Science Center out of Ponce Inlet in New Smyrna Beach on Saturday, May 17, 2008. Larry Manfredi and Roberto "Toe" Torres represented South Florida well, amongst an all-star troupe of leaders. Our boat, the Pastime Princess, ventured 113 mile offshore from 3:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., offering an opportunity to see birds, fish and mammals not normally seen. Brian Rapoza, Mark Berney, and John Kellam were amongst the South Florida contingent of birders blessed to be part of this epic voyage. Life is good.................... seeing Black-capped Petrels at close range. The following species are what I saw or thought I saw.
