Arriving home from work today at about 6, I was sereneaded by a melodic and curious whistling. I soon located a pair of spot breasted orioles, headed from one tree to the next, adjacent to my backyard. I lumbered into my house and up the stairs to get the camera with the big lens attached. Peering out from our bedroom window, I was disappointed to find that they'd alighted on another tree, obscured from my view by waving branches. I stumbled back downstairs and out the kitchen door into the backyard only to see them bid me adieu with much flapping of wings. So no photo..They were headed west, and Barnes is but a mile away in that direction. Barnes lurkers should keep an eye out...
