My neighborhood park is more known for it's trash than birds. That's why I was stunned to find all these birds in the park, especially on Friday afternoon. I got the idea of going when I decided to make my goal of seeing atleast 25 birds per day, since Wednesday. For those who might get confused that I am living in Morningside, and last week I was in Miami Shores, I live in both neighborhoods with each parent.

I started out with the following:

American Redstart- tons
Prairie Warbler- many in the mangroves singing
Northern Parula- male
Common Yellowthroat- in the magrove swamp?
Cape May Warbler- many chasing eachother
Blackpoll Warbler- who knew they were so common
Yellow-crowned Night Heron- two dining on fiddler crabs
Orange-winged Parrots- 5 seen, 2 more heard
Chimney Swift
Frigatebird
Brown Pelican
Double-crested Cormorant
Royal tern

There were the usual other birds seen today here.
I got many more than 25 birds today, especially around my school. Even though the birds might not be that special, I don't think the 25 plus Redstarts and other warblers can ever be achieved in a park like this, so I felt obliged to post this phenomonon. As for the Yellow-crowned Night Herons here, there are many, especially for a small swamp like this about 1 1/2 acres like this. There are atleast 10 in this swamp, and I would not think that much Night Herons can live in such a small swamp in an ugly park like this.
