I spent my morning off, hoping to find the late migrants that the radar-gurus keep talking about. I started at Corbett WMA/Hungryland Boardwalk. Not very birdy, but I did get WHITE EYED VIREO, PILEATED, DOWNY WP, WILD TURKEY, TOWHEE, plenty of CARDINALS, AM REDSTARTS, BG GNATCATCHERS, SNAIL KITE, and RED SHOULDERS. Redstarts are to May what Palm Warblers are to January. I had several invisible chipping/rattling birds in the pine flatwoods that hoped to come home and ID based on their call. But I can't decide if they were Bachmans Sparrows or Pine Warblers. I will have to go back and try again.

Afterwards, I did an early afternoon search for grassland species out in the hinterlands of Wellington. I was pleased to find a few fields with a total of at least 12 MEADOWLARKS, 2 flocks of BOBOLINKS totalling over 40 birds and 4 BOBWHITE.

In conclusion--I need to take more days off from work.
