Yesterday, while on my way to Key West for some fishing, I spotted one Roseate Tern near the western end of the Seven Mile Bridge. It was hunting on the bay side (north) of the old bridge. I didn't have time to check the Marathon Government Center, but this may be a good sign that they have returned there.
On the water I only saw 2 Brown Booby, 3 Audubon's Shearwaters, and a bunch of Soot Terns, but we stayed on the reef the entire time and nevered deep into "Pelagic" territory.
An encouraging site on the drive down was a pair (OK, two individuals) of Snail Kites along the 18-mile stretch at MM 117, just north of the C-11 Canal on the west side of the road.
