I'm sure Paul will eventually post about the Screech Owl, but anis are pretty easy in the perimeter park of Ft. Lauderdale Airport, called Greenbelt Park, just north of Miami. There are better directions on a few previous posts from January I think called "Anis at Greenbelt Park". There are a couple there, atleast 10. I saw a couple there when I when to see them. They are also in Flamingo, In Everglades National Park. I also believe there are some in Florida City, where there tall grasses behind a mall. To get to Greenbelt, head North from Miami on I-95 until you reach Griffen Road, which is south of the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. Turn right and head east. On your left, you should see a park decorated in many flower gardens. Enter the park, and head east along the small road, until you reach the small parking lot. Park the car, and head to a chainlink fence across the street from the park.
Look across the street towards another chain-link fence with a hedge near it. The hedges are right on the border of the airport. All along, the anis can be seen, but it is best from a direct walk from the parking lot. You may have to stay there a while, but they will show up on top of the fence across the street from you.. The fence is huge, but try to stay in the area of the parking-lot. Prevoius posts may help better.
