I'm sorry you missed the WW Parakeets at 550 LeJeune. I work there, and as I left for lunch today at noon, there were several of them vocalizing in the Washingtonia Palms just south of the American Welding Society parking lot (in the rear of the building). They can also be found at LeJeune and N.W. 7th Street, primarily in the Royal Palms in front of Ocean Bank, and in the Date Palms in front of the Herford Grill Steak House. The guard possibly didn't understand what you were looking for. If you go back, call me at 305-443-9353, Ext. 246, and I'll try to help out.
