I arrived home last week from Panama and read with interest the postings regarding this Wednesday's Barnes Park meeting. I plan to attend and to offer my two cents' worth if asked. Hopefully, there will be a large contingent advocating the preservation of the natural areas there. Question though--is Tropical Audubon, or any other nature/conservation organization taking an "official" position? Is our executive director planning to attend and speak for the organization?Has there been any coordinated approach planned with, say, the Sierra Club?
I was hoping to go to Key Largo this past Saturday-target bird was a mangrove cuckoo, but a last minute fishing opportunity presented itself.Sorry I missed you guys, Joe and Brian, but just like the fish I lost, I gather you did no better with the cuckoos.
Meanwhile, I have edited my photos from our excellent adventure in Panama, and the photos may be seen at the link below. Best viewed as a slideshow.I will append comments and ids of all the birds as soon as time permits--if you have any questions, in the meanwhile, please email me.
A summary and some pictures of my unplanned camera safari for the elusive and spectacular rufuous vented ground cuckoo on Pipeline Road is here:

Hope to see many of you Wednesday evening.
