Chained to the studio, migration haunts me.
The rain brought a slightly cooler dip in temperature at Cauley Square.
A quick tromp between rains at around 6pm showed the usual suspects in low numbers but in good company:
Summer Tanager, 1 orange-red 1st-spring male.
Rose-breasted Grosbeak, 1 perfect breeding male.
Blackpoll Warblers, 3 or 4 - (they boomed here about a week ago).
Cape May Warbler, only one male in hot plumage.
Black-and-White, one nice female.
American Redstart, various.
Ovenbird, 1.
Worm-eating Warbler, 1 (quite vocal).
Prairie Warbler, 1.
Black-throated Green, 1 unkempt male.
Black-throated Blue, 1 male.
Northern Parula, 2 males.
and an Orange-crowned highlight.
Additionally, the Brown Thrashers are active,
The Great-crested Flycatchers won't stop calling,
and a small band of Chimney Swifts flew by overhead (I've been seeing them evenings for the last 3 weeks).
I hope I did not miss anyone.
Merry Spring to all y'all.
