Seen again this afternoon from the NW section of the wetlands (near the apartments). Looking towards the SE, in the direction of Mt. Trashmore, there is a cove surrounded in vegetation with a sandbar in the middle. The Baird's was feeding up and down this sandbar. You can go into the apartments, or park on the edge of the wetlands and walk along the west shoreline. There is a solid, level embankment that runs along the shore. Trey first saw it earlier form the north edge of the wetlands along the edge where the open water meets the grassy area to the east. There are some nice muddy flats in this area. Angel, Mariel, Roxanne, and Troy were there this afternoon and all had great looks, and a resident of the apartments (I forgot her name) joined us briefly to enjoy some of the birds. I would check the area where Trey saw it first, since he had it much closer than we did.

In addition to the birds I listed yesterday, there was a Dunlin in breeding plumage and a Spotted Sandpiper, plus the Baird's. I didn't see any of the White-rumped this afternoon. That makes 16 shorebird species seen here in the last two days. Pretty cool.
