Just got back to NY and finally can post my trip report. I apologize this is a few days old.
The afternoon of 4/16 I found 3 Smooth-billed Ani's at the Old Griffin Rd. site. A short trip to Brian Piccolo park yielded half a dozen Burrowing Owls.
Thursday 4/17 started at sun-up in Kendall. 2 Red-whiskered Bulbuls were present north of Baptist Hospital as was Spot-breasted Oriole and 2 White-crowned Pigeons. I was surprised by the Pigeons thinking they weren't found in the area, but the looks were very good.
Cutler Ridge Cave Swallow roost had many Cave Swallows and US1 in Homestead had 2 Common Myna.
Everglades NP was next. Gray Kingbird was opposite Flamingo and two male Shiny Cowbirds were near the visitor center. Swallow-tailed Kite (2) were on the road to Mahogany Hammock and between Mahogany Hammock and Flamingo.
Key Largo Botanical Site was devoid of all bird life save a Cardinal and a single Palm Warbler. A Black-whiskered Vireo was vocal across the street from the parking lot.
The trails themselves were quiet. I was surprised to see a group of local birders trying to tape out a previously reported Mangrove Cuckoo. I thought this behavior was shunned during the breeding season? A third WC Pigeon was seen flying across US1 in Key Largo.
Many thanks to all who post to the board. I could not have seen half as much without your prompt and accurate postings.
