The bird I saw had a strong resemblance to the first image in color and shape. (From the shape and posture, you can see why I thought it was an icterid at first.) However, as you can see, the various pictures you can find on the web aren't always ideal diagnostic tools. There are apparently 20 species in the Lamprotornis genus, and the lesser blue-eared glossy-starling is another possible candidate.
