Jody and I took our first trip to the Long Key Natural Area in Davie today. We were able to identify 29 species overall, including Blackpoll, Common Yellowthroat, Cape May, and American Redstarts. There were also a couple of What-the-heck-was-that Warblers, 6 Cedar Waxwings and two Black-crowned Night Herons.

The rookery is similar to the Venice Area Audubon Rookery, only closer to the road. There is still a lot of nest building activity going on. In another month or so there should be many Cattle Egret and Tri-colored Heron chicks.
