Dear Christi The Pileated Woodpeckers have not been disturbed by the people and the photographers over the last 6 weeks! The Crows and the Red Shouldered Hawk have been disturbing them. I have been down there 3 Saturdays in a row, this past Wednesday, Friday and today till Tony asked us to move. Thurday a female baby fledged, Friday a second female fledged and a think after Tony had us the two of us move the little male fledged. The 25 foot long "trail" was there prior to my first Saturday trip. This is again an example of a person in "authority" not knowing or having the decency to ask what is happening as he saw the adult fly by and assumed it was being disturbed! It was flying accross the road to feed one of the fledged babies.
