Bluejay stalks dove for nesting material?

Hello,

We are rather new to birding but observed something curious today at Kendall Indian Hammocks...A bluejay (there seem to be dozens of them there) landed about a foot from a dove and sat still for a minute or two until the dove was comfortable with its presence. Then it turned toward the dove, gradually extended its body toward the dove (leaning forward) and then suddenly lunged for the dove, plucking out at least one feather and holding it in its beak. The dove flew off and the jay flew to another tree, apparently looking for more nesting materials.
