A late weekend report just trickling in...
I stopped by the Long Key Nature Center up in Davie on Sunday afternoon. It wasn't prime birding time (1PM and 90 degrees), but right outside my car was a live oak with a flock of vocal Cedar Waxwings. When they took off a few minutes later I counted 25 birds. I'm not sure how common they are this far south in mid-April, but it wasn't what I expected to see. The rookery at the nature center is sure worth a look if you are in the area. It was also really nice to stroll through the big oaks loaded with resurrection fern.
