Wow, I'm out of the picture for a few weeks and all Hades breaks loose! Even LaPuma is chiming in these days (congratulations daddy-to-be).

But seriously, it is nice to see that people are still passionate and express their concern about certain issues...like The Problem at A.D. Barnes. Not to start a new string of postings ranting and raving about The Problem (far from that), but some of you may recall back in Sep.'06 when I just about had enough and posted a lengthy diatribe about it. A lot of you replied on and mostly off the Birdboard (thank you) and I got everyone worked up and failed to follow up. Sorry about that, life happened. Those of you who know me well know that the past year-and-a-half have been a rollercoaster ride for my family and The Problem initiative took the back seat in a Greyhound Bus.

Bottom line, it is refreshing to know that young guns like Angel and Mariel are keeping the fire alive and those of you who responded back in '06 are still showing your support. I wish I could become more involved, yet, this new initiative has prompted me to at least make some calls. Steve Siegel's news from Barnes is pretty good and we could only hope it gets better.

On the Birding Front:
This past week, while working in the mangroves of the lower Shark River (ENP), I observed/heard more Great Crested Flycatchers than I ever have (so THAT'S where they all go). Also heard were several Black-whiskered Vireos and many Prairie Warblers. You guys are talking about spring migration? I say summer's here already!

That said, I'm back...sort of. I'll be looking for new places to bird and reporting back. If you see me out in the field, say hi...if you don't, I'll run you over. Maybe I'll see you all this Sunday in Toe's walk...providing he remembers he's leading a walk.

Cheers and bird on!
