I went looking for the elusive White-tailed Kite at the end of Research Rd. yesterday. No White-tails, but 7-8 Swallow-tails were seen hunting in the vicinity. Also, for those that go there looking, as you face the locked gate that leads to the vacant buildings, in the tree on the left of the road about 75 yds. in, there is a pretty good size nest towards the top. Could that be a kite nest? I didn't see any activity in the nest, but it was in the middle of the day and if it belonged to the Kites, they were all flying. It would be nice to make observations and see if the nest is being used and by what. The nest is 75m behind a locked gate, so I don't think your presence would disturb the occupants. If you go, a spotting scope would be useful.
