Palm Warblers have been singing their variable songs in my yard, so it took me a minute this morning to recognize that I had something different--something that sounded like a long Warbling Vireo song, but sweeter and more plaintive. I carefully insinuated myself outside and watched for movement. A spot of red appeared, then the whole bird, a male Painted Bunting! In over four years here, my first one in the yard.
Good birding,
Susan
