I was feeling dejected for lack of migrating eye-candy, but this morning Green Cay supplied lots of entertainment, and after I counted them, over 40 species in less than 2 hours!
There are at least two groups of Limpkin babies being very openly fed by the parents. Two older chicks are in the SW marsh area and a newly hatched brood of 4+ are in the central north marsh. Lots of fun to watch the snail feeding.
Also a Pied-billed grebe in the north central marsh with 3 babies (not really young but still have striped heads). The Killdeer nest on the cypress island now has 3+ eggs, but the Snipe seem to have left.
Lots of Black-necked Stilts, Yellowlegs, and newly arrived Least Terns too.
All in all a great morning, even if the photo opps were few.
