I went to the Harold A. Campbell Public Use Area (Holeyland Rd. to where the pavement stops) to see what photo possibilities were there. All the usual suspects for an open Glades boat-ramp sort of habitat, including a Spotted Sandpiper, and a flock of Rough-winged Swallows. The surprise was a pair of Western Kingbirds, calling their hearts out, and looking like a couple staking out nesting territory. They may just be getting ready to head for Texas, but it's interesting. Keep an eye out if you go there in the next few weeks. They were right near the entrance.
