The goldfinches and painted buntings that have crowded my feeders every winter have been sparse this year but SURPRISE! I have an Indigo Bunting today. At first glance I thought it was one of the male painted buntings but upon closer examination I figured out it was the Indigo. Exciting because I've never had one visit. Kind of a weird day because I also have a Great Blue Heron on top of one of my oak trees today.
BTW- I just returned from my cabin in NE Georgia and they had tons of goldfinches up there. Guess that's where they're hanging this year.
