The Spruce Grouse was at Mont Tremblant Provincial Park, north of Montreal. It walked out in front of my car, pecked at the left front tire, and then looked up at me like I was an object of intense interest. i could have chucked it under the chin or stroked its fuzzy red eyebrows..
This was about 10 minutes after a bull moose on the trail looked at me the same way, but in that case I got the hell out of there!
My nemesis bird, BTW, is the Black-billed Cuckoo, a bird that many others find oddly easy to find.
