Today on the Green Cay bird count I had the great fortune of seeing our resident Coyote. This is only the second confirmed sighting, the last a few weeks ago by a photographer (south side of wetland trotting on the water's edge heading east).
On the subject of birds, there were beautiful Common Yellowthroats mixed in with the Yellow-rumped Warblers. A Northern Parula gave a nice look and out in the wetlands an American Bittern flew over and into some vegetation. The total species list hit 44 after a hour and that was without the normal Red-bellied Woodpecker and Red-shouldered Hawk that graces the wetlands daily. Other birds of interest included Wilson's Snipe, over a dozen Purple Gallinule, and three clutches of fresh Moorhen chicks. The Spoonbills were absent but it was a nice day birding.
