Three Scissor-tailed Flycatchers were seen at the previously reported location at the corner of S.W. 316th St. and S.W. 212th Ave.in Homestead by the "Ohio 3", Bob and Alice Pace and yours truly, after the TAS Field Trip to E.N.P.yesterday, Saturday, March 1, 2008, at around 5:30 p.m. If the birds are not on the powerlines-look in a large fig tree at the intersection, where they were hawking for insects in the fruiting tree.

This morning I met the 'Ohio 3" at Baptist Hospital at 8:00 a.m. and by 8:30 we had (4) Red-whiskered Bulbuls, (3) White-crowned Pigeons, (8) Monk Parakeets and a flock of (30) Mitred Parakeets. All but the Mitreds-which were on the hospital grounds-were seen in the Kendall residential neighborhood as described in Brian Rapoza's;Falcon Guide; Birding Florida on page 104. If looking for the "Parrots of Miami" see pages 102 and 103 for an excellent checklist of parrots, indicating Species, Field Marks and Abundance in Miami, including Miami Springs, Miami Shores/Biscayne Gardens, South Miami/Kendall and Other Locations in Miami/Dade. Life is good............... helping visiting birders find our South Florida specialties.
