This nest is not nearly as accessible as the one at Coe Rest Stop in Everglades National Park. But at Loxahatchee NWR, about 50 feet past the check in station there is an active nest, which is always good news. The nest is on the south side of the road and visible because the cypress have shed foliage. The nest stands out clearly. Both parents are in attendance. Not a very good photo opportunity but nevertheless---a sighting. Early morning is best opportunity. There is simply no way to get a better angle or view of this nest because of the terrain. By the way, the visitor center is still under remodeling so that area is closed off.
