I am curious. Do you live in Miami-Dade or Broward County and in what general area? STKs
started their urban nesting in Miami-Dade County
in an Austalian Pine across the street from the old Parrot Jungle Site(now Pinecrest gardens) in 1990 or so.
They are now regular and common nesters in the South Miami/Pinecrest/Coral Gables area at least.
More recently they have started nesting in the urban areas of Broward. Will this continue to spread northward? We will see.

: I was working on my deck this afternoon, and I stopped for a cold one. I was sitting there watching my Purple martins when they all took off and out of nowhere there it was so beautiful. They have been coming around for at least 5 or 6 yrs now. This was the first this year. They have nested in the pines behind my neighbors house. So we will hope they will this year again. I keep you posted.
