I went looking for a bird of the day and decided to go into ENP and see if the Barred Owl chicks were still around. I wasn't disappointed; they put on a show just as the sun went down. I could hear the adult birds in the distance and the chicks were crying to be fed. One of the adults flew close to the nest for a pretty good look, but the chicks were climbing all over the tree and jumping testing their wings.
This was one of the best moments in my birding experience.
My bird of the day was one of a few Northern Rough-wing Swallows I saw flying over the glades along with some Tree Swallows.
