On Saturday, February 23 and Sunday, February 24, Cara & Wade Cooper and Christi Carmichael, respectively, spotted a Long-billed Curlew at Snake Bight, from the little channel that runs north of Christian Point (best seen from canoe or kayak, but may be visible from the end of the Christian Point Trail).

On Sunday, February 24, I saw three Limpkins from "Mt. Schinus," the mound along the Old Ingraham Highway in Everglades National Park. Two of the Limpkins were hanging out together. For a few minutes they followed a big alligator, which was moving slowly through the shallows. They seemed to be exercising the proper blend of curiosity and caution. After they wandered off, a Great Blue Heron began following the gator in the same manner.

I also saw a Snail Kite in the wetlands to the south of the mound, not far from the Limpkins.
